One is the review of a study conducted by a consulting firm, Eden Prairie-based Westwood, on the suitability of the city developing renewable energy production at various locations on city property for use by city facilities.
The study, completed last month, did a solar analysis for a large-scale solar facility at Hutchinson’s wastewater treatment facility along Adams Street Southeast or a smaller solar project on top of the water tank adjacent to the water treatment plant on Prospect Street.
Also reviewed was a possible small-scale wind project east of the wastewater plant or a large-scale project on city-owned farmland south of Hutchinson Cooperative’s elevator.
The other items that could generate discussion is a review of the city’s policies for fees charged developers for connecting to the city’s water and sewer systems. Those fees are typically known as “SAC and WAC” fees. The city currently charges a $2,300 per unit SAC fee and a $1,750 WAC fee, for a total charge of $4,050 per unit.
A study of fees charged by other cities shows Hutchinson well below the average of $6,341.
The meeting in the council chamber of City Center, 111 Hassan St. S.E., begins at 4 p.m. rather than the usual time of 5:30 p.m.
