A certain big-box retailer drives me crazy

I hate to name names, but a certain big-box retailer with a name that rhymes with ... uh ... Schmall-Schmart ... is irking me something fierce.

See, come Dec. 9, I planned on snatching up the two-DVD Special Edition of "The Dark Knight." But Wal-Mart ... er ... the mystery retailer that shall remain unnamed ... has announced it will also sell an exclusive edition of "The Dark Knight" DVD that comes with a replica of Two-Face's awesome coin, and a comic book.

The trouble is, that version of "The Dark Knight" only comes with one disc, so if you want to get all the wicked making-of featurettes that come on the two-disc version and you want the geeky coin thing, you need to buy the same movie twice.

To quote my man Heath: Hah hah hah hah hah hah. Hah. And I thought my jokes were bad.

My thoughts on 'The Dark Knight'

Heath Ledger in 'The Dark Knight'Heath Ledger in 'The Dark Knight'Believe the hype. "The Dark Knight" is my favorite movie of the summer (so far) and probably one of the most satisfying action blockbusters of the past 10 years.

It's not just a good comic book movie. It's a great movie, first and foremost, that happens to be about comic book heroes and villains.

I'd say it has more in common with classic crime dramas such as "Heat" and "The Untouchables" than it does with "Spider-Man" or "X-Men." It's a gangster film about a handful of noble crime fighters, some who wear suits and ties, some who wear badges and guns, and one who wears a cowl and cape, all battling evil and corruption.
