A real-life Golden Army soldier will deliver
the deluxe edition DVD to your house
for an extra $10,000. Maybe."Hellboy II: The Golden Army" is coming to DVD and Blu-ray next Tuesday, Nov. 11. As with the first "Hellboy" movie, it will be available in both a two-disc special edition and an insanely awesome, feature-packed, fanboy/fangirl's wildest-fantasy edition.
The three disc ZOMFG! edition (which is not official called that) lists for $49.98 and includes the following: a Golden Army figurine, replica director's sketchbook, collectible mini-poster and certificate of authenticity.
Oh yeah, and you actually get the movie itself with two commentary tracks, on-set videos, deleted scenes, an animated comic, a digital copy of the script and a whole lot of other stuff.
Is it blasphemy to give "Hellboy" for Christmas? There's only one way to find out.
Cathedral Head: He's a brick houseThe New York Times has posted a sweet interactive feature on Guillermo del Toro's production diaries for "Hellboy II: The Golden Army."
You can check out several pages of character designs, hand drawn by del Toro, and listen to audio clips of him explaining his inspiration for them.
Incidentally, I saw "Hellboy II" Saturday night and loved it. But, some of the stuff just plain didn't make sense. For instance, the character del Toro dubbed "Cathedral Head." He's just what he sounds like — a guy who's head is shaped like a cathedral, complete with stained-glass windows.
