A retail trade analysis of the Hutchinson market originally scheduled for December will now take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the Hutchinson Event Center.

The southbound lane of Main Street was closed for a time Wednesday morning after natural gas and carbon monoxide was discovered in Main Street Sports Bar. Hutchinson firefighters and workers from Hutchinson Utilities were called at about 9:45 a.m. to air-out the building and shut off the gas. Owner Rahn Hoseck, who was working in the front of the building, said a supplier coming in the back door told him about the gas smell. They immediately left the building and called for assistance.
At the 75th anniversary event, McLeod Co-op Power Association General Manager Kris Ingrenthron used a kerosene lamp to describe to members how life was before the co-op began serving area residents in the 1930s. For more information, see the April 8 print edition of the Leader.

Hutchinson Manufacturing Inc. owner Tom Daggett joined others in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday morning to mark the completion of a 54,000-square-foot factory that will make large industrial cranes for such customers as nuclear power plants. NuCrane Manufacturing is a partnership between Daggett and PaR Nuclear, a Twin Cities-based subsidiary of Westinghouse. After what apparently was a tumultuous five-week run, Castaways, a seafood, steak and pasta restaurant in the 101 Park Place building has closed. It had opened Dec. 15.
