July 24, 2008 - 7:13am Students are exploring careers through Ridgewater College’s 2008 Summer Camp this week. Registered nurse Ann Benson explained to Jenaa Nebel-Cameron how the humerus bone got its name. Students in the Brains, Sprains, Bones, and More ... class learned how to use health-care equipment, examine body tissue, and learn about the effects of healthy eating. They were also introduced to lifelike dummies to learn about the human body and how it works.
Former assistant principal steps into new positionJuly 17, 2008 - 10:26am — Jorge SosaHutchinson High School’s former assistant principal is now serving as the school district’s director of teaching and learning. Deb Marcotte is fulfilling a role similar but not identical to that of former assistant superintendent Allen Stoeckman. Voters will be asked to fix high school firstJuly 14, 2008 - 7:06pm — Jorge SosaThe Hutchinson School District 423 School Board unanimously voted Monday (July 14) to move forward with a plan for a Nov. 4 building bond vote. The ballot items, running concurrently with the 2008 general election, will consist of two questions. The first will ask voters if they approve tearing down two classroom wings at the high school and replacing them with a multistory wing. This proposal includes adding a new gym, replacing heating and cooling systems, creating a new entrance on the building’s west side, and other improvements. The total estimated cost: $36.7 million.
