George Lucas loses touch with reality

He told the folks at Sci Fi Wire [1] that research is under way for a fifth installment in his period adventure series.

"It's very hard to come up with stories for that thing," Lucas explained. "You know, It's really impossible. Because it has to be real. It has to be something that actually happened."

That's news to me. I didn't realize that aliens actually buried a ginormous flying saucer beneath a Mayan temple, thousands of years ago.

Nor did I realize that a battalion of Nazis actually melted into pools of steaming goo when they tried to use the Ark of the Covenant as a military super-weapon.

"It's a really difficult research project, which they're researching now," Lucas added.

Presumably this means Lucas' team is combing through countless musty piles of Weekly World News back issues. "Indiana Jones meets Bat Boy [3]," anyone?
