July 18: Huskies 4, Maple Lake 3
10 days after Hutchinson rallied for a 7-3 win at Maple Lake, the Huskies made it 2-for-2 on the season, setting up a division title game with Dassel-Cokato.
"Mr. Clutch" AKA Justin Juergensen came up with runners on first and third and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied at three. After Lakers pitcher Chad Raiche fell behind 3-1, he grooved a fastball down the heart of the plate and Juergensen connected with a hit into center field, scoring Eric Katzenmeyer.
Trailing 3-0 in the eighth, Jordan Schwarze got the rally going with a single. Luke Klitzke followed with a laser down the right field line to put runners on first and third. Tim Thode lined to left field, scoring Schwarze with the Huskies’ first run.
After Brad Bennin and Kuhl subbed in to run, Juergensen laced a 3-2 fastball to the right-center gap, plating both runners on the hit.
Knocking in winning runs was something Juergensen did all year.
In the top of the 13th inning of a game with Monticello June 22, Juergensen gave the Huskies the lead with a double, plating Katzenmeyer and Klitzke with the go-ahead runs.
Juergensen also had the game-winning hit the night before in a 3-2 win over New Ulm Kaiserhoff. He had all three RBIs in the win.
