Amy WinehouseAmy Winehouse Sir Paul McCartney believes fellow British pop star Amy Winehouse “would do a really good job” at performing the theme song to the next James Bond flick, according to The Boston Globe [1]. The 22nd Bond film, titled “Quantum of Solace,” is due in U.S. theaters Nov. 22. McCartney joins the ranks of singer Shirley Bassey and composer David Arnold in recommending Winehouse for the job, according to Bond fan site MI6 [2]. McCartney provided an excellent theme song to the otherwise lousy Bond flick “Live and Let Die” in 1973. Bassey is a three-time Bond singer, having performed the themes to “Goldfinger,” “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Moonraker.” Arnold has composed the Bond musical scores for the past 10 years. With such great references, she sounds like a shoo-in for the job, if she can conquer her personal demons. For what it's worth, I think Winehouse would be a great choice. The title track to her “Back to Black” album sounds like a lost Bond theme, anyway. (Jorge Sosa is a staff writer for the Hutchinson Leader. He can be reached at sosa@hutchinsonleader.com)
