John Korngiebel is the boy in this 1940 photo. His father Walter and crew painted the art moderne or deco style building upon its completion.
Constructed: May 3 to Sept. 13, 1940
Location: At the north entrance of the old fairgrounds near 3M
Architecture: Art moderne or deco style described in a Leader article as “... of the modernistic type and pleasing to the eye.”
Torn down: Still standing
The fair moved from its old location next to 3M to its present location in 1993. The administration building was sold to 3M, and is still standing and visible from a cul-de-sac at the south end of Huron Street S.E.
