Students enrolled in law enforcement degree programs or peace officer standards training can apply for a $600 scholarship from the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association.
As many as 15 students will be awarded the scholarship this year. The scholarship committee looks at a variety of factors when evaluating applicants: need, academic performance, volunteer and other outside experience.
Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a mandated skills program, two-year law enforcement program, vo-tech police program or four-year college criminal justice course. Applicants must also have completed at least one year of a two-year program or two years of a four-year program.
The application deadline is Nov. 1. Scholarship awards will be announced Dec. 31.
