The Sibley County Attorney’s office is seeking a charge of fourth-degree misdemeanor DUI against McLeod County Commissioner Sheldon Nies.
County Attorney Dave Schauer said Nies has no prior DUI convictions on his record. He has submitted a complaint to the McLeod County Court, which is still processing it. Nies declined to comment until he receives notice of the charge from the McLeod County Court.
He was arrested June 11 under suspicion of driving under the influence. McLeod County Attorney Mike Junge forwarded the investigation to Sibley County to avoid appearance of a conflict of interest.
