LETTER: Are parents falling down on the job?

From Joan Nott
Hutchinson

Every day I am becoming more embarrassed about being a woman. When I go into bathrooms in stores and other public places I cannot believe the mess I see.

Girls grow up to be mothers, the people who are mainly responsible for keeping our homes clean and neat. This does not give you men permission to cop out on helping in these chores.

What is happening in our homes today, are we as parents falling down on our jobs? What needs to change here? By the way, how are the men’s bathrooms looking?

Get hip Joan,
It appears parents no longer feel the need to teach their children: to walk on the right side of all walk ways, do not block doors, males do not wear hats inside any building, adults are to be respected whether you know them are not, cleavage is for the bedroom , one never tells a hostess if they do not care for the food she servers, a guest waits until asked, does not beg for food, drink; chew with your mouth closed, don't talk with food in your mouth, make sure you tell your parents where you are at all times, rubber shoes of any sort are for the beach not church, your rights end where another's begin, leave a place cleaner then when you arrived. The list goes on and on. Mother's got a bad wrap for nagging once upon a time, IMHO our society has lost something in the "evolving" we claim we have done.

To be honest, my bathroom is cleaner than my wifes.

I believe you are referring to the "Little house on the prairie" times. Those days are long gone.

Doesn't pay to get down on yourself for something you can't change.

Better call Mr. Johnson quick,B@ssDoctor.
He just spent the day having meetings with students and parents explaining the "rules". They were pretty much the list I posted. Maybe the school thinks there are some social conventions that are timeless. It is too bad the school has to teach them. The students should come already knowing them!!
