Minnesota author/illustrator Nancy Carlson will speak at the Hutchinson Public Library Saturday at 10 a.m. as part of the Pioneer Library System's Read A Latte program. For more events happening this weekend, see the March 18 print edition of the Leader.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ Singing (BASICS) will perform tonight at 7 in the sanctuary of Peace Lutheran Church. The concert proceeds will help complete the church's Little Lambs building. The group will also perform next Friday in a benefit for Kids Against Hunger efforts in Haiti. DFL gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton, a former U.S. senator, visited with a small cadre of supporters from the Hutchinson area during a lunchtime St. Patrick’s Day visit to Hutch Cafe. The meet-and-greet stop here was part of Dayton’s “87 Counties in 87 Days” tour across Minnesota. Dayton hasn’t actively sought the DFL endorsement, saying he’ll go directly to the primary election in August.
