For the past three years, Barb Poshek of Hutchinson has joined with family and friends to walk in the Stroll for Epilepsy.
This walk is sponsored by the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota. Its purpose is to raise money for programs that help educate, connect and empower people affected by epilepsy.
On Thursday, Aug. 14, Stroll for Epilepsy events will take place in St. Cloud, the Twin Cities, Duluth, Fargo/Moorhead and Rochester. Registration at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Stroll at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake George Municipal Complex, 1101 Seventh St. S., St. Cloud
Poshek will walk with her team, Hannah’s Heroes, at the St. Cloud event. The team is named after her 4-year-old niece who was diagnosed with epilepsy at 18 months. Poshek, 32, was diagnosed with the disease at 16. “I want to raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation,” she said. “They helped me when I needed help. I do this, so I can help others.”
So far, Poshek has raised $400 for this year’s Stroll for Epilepsy. Last year, her team raised a total of $2,900. This year’s goal is $3,200.
