Bands: prepare to battle!

Registration for the second annual McLeod County Fair Battle of the Bands is approaching.
Sponsored by Methamphetamine Education and Drug Awareness Coalition of McLeod County, the contest is an opportunity for young, local bands to show off their talent. Each band will play two three- to four-minute songs in front of a live audience and judges to determine a winning band in each of two age categories.

Completed registration forms, which can be picked up from the Hutchinson High School office, must be submitted on or before July 7, to Alex Barraza at St. Anastasia Church, 460 Lake Street S.W., Hutchinson, MN 55350. Bands will perform from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 at the McLeod County Fairgrounds. Both the judged winners and the winners of the popularity vote will receive a $50 gift certificate. The winning band will receive the opportunity to record a CD at Ridgewater College and the chance to headline at the 7 p.m. award ceremony.
