The McLeod County Park Commission is not allowing the public to enter any of the six county parks from Nov. 6 through Nov. 16.
Reasons cited include concern for public safety and protection of wildlife during the hunting season.
The parks affected are Buffalo Creek Park in Glencoe, Swan Lake Park in Silver Lake, William May Park in Winsted, Stahl’s Lake Park in Hutchinson, Lake Marion Regional Park in Brownton, and Piepenburg Regional Park in Hutchinson.
County parks were officially closed for the season Sunday, Oct. 4. Gates were closed, but hikers and walkers were still welcome. No hunting is allowed on county park property at any time.
