Hutchinson junior-to-be Showstopper Charmaine Villalon achieved a goal of making the varsity high kick dance squad last fall.
On Sunday, Aug. 17, she hopes to achieve another goal — winning the 2008 Miss Teen Minneapolis/St. Paul Nationals Pageant.
Villalon is among 80 contestants between the ages of 16 and 19 that will compete in the Pageant at Minneapolis Washburn High School.
Each contestant will meet a panel of judges in a personal interview designed to allow the personality of contestants to come out.
There will also be a casual wear and formal wear competitions that will go toward the judges scoring.
“I thought it sounded like a fun opportunity. I was hoping to gain an experience and meet new friends,” Villalon said. “They said the judging is mostly based on the personalities of the contestants. I plan on wearing my dance uniform for formal wear to help show what I’m about.”
“Nothing I’ve done really compares to this. So, it should be really fun. I hope I do well,” she said.
The competition begins at 4 p.m.
