I certainly hope some of the vendors decide to stay at the downtown location. Part of the reason we moved to Hutchinson was to be able to access local food from our community without the need of a car. Walking to the fairgrounds would not be as easy for us as walking downtown. Besides, my 20 month old usually likes to play in library square and visit the library while we shop the farmer's market!
I would think that the downtown location encourages people driving through our town to stop. I understand about the delivery men being inconvenienced, but isn't this offset by the potential sales accrued throughout the summer i.e. foot-traffic from the farmer's market???

I hope the local farmers aren't as behind with their farming practice as this guy is with his statistics. It's nice to look at history and see the trends but he's about 12 to 15 months out of the current cycle of land prices.

I wonder how many area

I wonder how many area farmers actually pay into the Worker's Compensation fund for the State of Minnesota, much less pay withholding taxes for their hired help. I can't help but believe most of their payroll is "cash" and therefore, they skip the "withholding taxes" part of their business. Maybe I am wrong, but the farmers I know wouldn't go this route, but rather they opt for the cash payments for their employees, and keep the government out of their business in order to remain somewhat profitable.

Oh I so look forward to those Honey Crisp Apples! Crunchy yet sweet and just a tiny bit of tartness make them just perfect for snacking on! Best tasting apple I've ever had :)

$177,000 for Tomatoes? I

$177,000 for Tomatoes? I did not realize the amount of money set aside for the pavilion. I am sure the raspberries and tomatoes will taste just as good without a pavilion. Honestly, I think the community could use $177,000 in quite a few other areas.
