I used to commute to Winsted

I used to commute to Winsted many years ago. I went north of Silver Lake on Co. 2 toward Cokato (about 4 miles). to catch 5. Same road as Terry explains, with a few less turns, if the road is still open to there. Could also take Hwy 7 to Co. 16 in Silver Lake, which will be open, then head north to 5.

Detours on your commuter route are always uncomfortable.

Actually, you shouldn't go

Actually, you shouldn't go towards Glencoe at all.
Looking at a county map, and assuming you want to avoid gravel roads, one way to Winsted from Hutchinson would be to go east on State Highway 7 four miles to County Road 4. Turn left and go north about 4 miles to CR 5, turn right (east) and go 2.5 miles to CR 16. Turn left (north) and go 1 mile to CR 5 again. Turn right (east) and CR 5 will take you into the south end of Winsted near the airport (about 9 miles). This all assumes the county doesn't have any work scheduled on that route. It is about 21 miles — not much farther than the normal Hwy. 7 to CR 1 route, but with more turns, obviously. You might want to check it out before the detour goes in place.

Good luck.

neuby01 is correct, flowing

neuby01 is correct, flowing water downhill from a 24" pipe into an 18" pipe will likely cause an airlock during heavy flows and cause the water not to flow. The real issue is why a reasonable guarentee cannot be provided. Contractors building commercial buildings, bridges, and pipelines must be bonded against failures due to mistakes, why can't those affected by other projects expect the same? MNDoT knows that suing them is almost impossible and is therefore not concerned about failures that affect others. This makes me very concerned about the idea of "universal health care"!

24" to 18" doesn't even make

24" to 18" doesn't even make any common sense when talking drainage...any builder/toddler knows that running 24" of water into and 18" hole/pipe is going to creat a funnel effect and back up water creating problems most likely stated by the land owner. And they are going to allow to sue the government after the fact? What is this act now and ask questions/deal with the problem later? Thats a never ending slow death, and everyone knows that. Why create the hastle of sueing? All that does is create a larger problem concerning angry citizens and rediculous waists of hard earned money, when the problem should be thought through and engineered using maybe a little common sense now in the early processes.

It would be really nice if

It would be really nice if you could put something in your paper about how the drivers don't need to stop when going north/south on Bluff Street anymore. I know it's hard because of habit, I've caught myself doing it a few times, but one of these days there is going to be an accident because people keep stopping when they shouldn't. Thanks a bunch!!!
