I can see park elementary

I can see park elementary being rebuilt someday.
Because the school is so old and mostly brick, there's not a lot of upgrade options. If we did build a new school I would like too see the walls upgraded with network cable and something like RG6 cable to each class room. That way kids could interact with other kids from other schools, that already have this technology. Kids today need to learn computers, it's important. A lot of jobs today, you punch in on the time clock on a computer, look up materials you need to make a product, and even need to look up automotive or tractor parts. The more kids can learn at a young age the better. Having that knowledge would greatly help kids in college as well. Some kids today can't afford a computer, so having a classroom capable and with a computer they can still learn the general things needed.

You can only do so much with

You can only do so much with old buildings! The buildings that our grandparents went to school in were not designed for the technology of today. Our children deserve better!

There seems to be a common

There seems to be a common answer of "Why were the current buildings not kept up?" That is what I hear from people of Brownton, Stewart and Hutchinson(I am not sure of the other schools) when this issue comes up in conversation. I think that a lot of people want to be sure that a plan will be in place to ensure the survival and upkeep of any new building that will be built. I have read many letters indicating that after a new building is built, they are worried about having enough operating money in place to sustain it. I would be curious to hear what others think about this, because in all of these instances something will have to be done. These problems are not going to just go away on their own.

School votes

Residents of McLeod West school district voted Dec. 19 against a plan to build a new K to 12 school in Brownton. School votes for new buildings or more operating money in Hutchinson, Glencoe-Silver Lake, ACGC and Dassel-Cokato during the past year also did not win enough support to pass.
