Hutchinson's "finest

Hutchinson's "finest building" was named Ansgar College. It was named after the historical figure Ansgar who is credited with bringing Christianity to Denmark and Sweden in the early 800s A.D. The college's name later became Metropolitan College, Hutchinson College and then Maplewood Academy.

Since it was not torn down until 1980, many readers might remember visiting the building or have photos or artifacts. If you know details about its interior, have remembrances, photos or artifacts, please post them here or send them to the Leader office at the address above.

At the top of “college hill,” and nearly five stories, the structure gave Hutchinson a skyline for nearly 80 years.
