A wood duck nested in my house this year, according to my next door neighbor. He has seen the female fly into the house several nights around 7 or 7:30 p.m.

Female wood ducks typically leave the nest for an hour each morning and evening to feed. I saw a wood duck visit the house almost a month ago, but thought she picked somewhere else to lay her eggs because she hasn't been seen since. I guess she has been in there all the time.

It takes about a month from the laying of the eggs to hatching, so there could be babies soon if a raccoon doesn't find them.

Any wood duck or other ducks nesting in your yard?

For past few years, I've worked to attract wood ducks to my yard. I hung Wood Duck house a couple years ago, but didn't have any luck the first year.
