'Ice Road Truckers' creator to spawn zombie flick
July 16, 2008 - 12:04pm — Jorge Sosa
Beers has developed "Chopper Zombie" with writer Todd Livingston and artist Scott Keating as a comic book series to launch next week at San Diego's Comic-Con. It will hit stores July 30. Production on a film adaptation is scheduled to start next year. "Chopper Zombie" will tell the tale of a motorcycle builder who develops a formula for a new superfuel. He refuses to sell it to an evil corporation, so they send some goons to drown him in his own gas. According to Variety, "He rises from the dead with a score to settle." This plot synopsis sounds quite similar to "Swamp Thing," one of my favorite comic books and B-horror flicks from the '80s, with some "Ghost Rider" thrown in. It's hard to tell if the story will be any good from this four-page preview of the comic book. But, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. It features wicked motorcycles and the living dead, so it can't be all bad. (Jorge Sosa is a staff writer for the Hutchinson Leader. He can be reached at sosa@hutchinsonleader.com) |
