'Another Way to Die' is the next Bond theme

Jack White and Alicia KeysJack White and Alicia KeysIt's an unlikely pairing, but I think it'll work. The Associated Press reports Jack White and Alicia Keys have collaborated for the next James Bond theme song, "Another Way to Die."

The next Bond flick is actually called "Quantum of Solace," but as Paul McCartney (who wrote 1973's theme to "Live and Let Die") once noted, it's hard to find good words that rhyme with "solace." The best he could come up with? "Wallace."

The "Quantum of Solace" soundtrack will be released Oct. 28, with the film following in theaters Nov. 7. "Another Way to Die" will be the first duet in Bond theme history, and appears to mark a new trend of songs that don't share their titles with the movies.

You might recall Chris Cornell's wicked theme to 2006's "Casino Royale" was called "You Know My Name." Before 2006, I'm pretty sure the last Bond theme that didn't have the same name as the movie was Rita Coolidge's "All Time High" from 1983.

As longtime Bond film composer John Barry once explained, "'By this time, using the title in the lyric was something of a requirement. But what are you going to do with 'Octopu**y'? I mean...Jesus.''
