Cafe
August 15, 2007 - 9:18pm — Peanut
I have memories of going to a cafe next to where the ace hardware store is now. I don't remember what it was called. But I remember going there and they had stools to sit on next to the counter. Anyone else remember this building? I almost think it had a upstairs. Possibly apartments up there? I like to see a picture of that building if someone has it. I remember it was a brick building. I always wondered if that building was something else before a cafe, because I'm sure it was fairly old. Across the road was a dealership. I don't know if it was chrysler or what. But I remember seeing new cars there on the way to the cafe.

Back to page topI think that cafe was called Busters.

Back to page topThe Park Hotel sat in that general area for many years. It was a brick building. We plan to include a photo of it in the Lost Hutchinson magazine.
It could have had a cafe in it. I've been told it was a "residence" hotel that people lived at for extended periods of time, and meals were provided.
If readers know more details, please post them here.

Back to page topThere was a cafe and Busters was at least one of the names it went by (not sure if there were others). I remember going there for ice cream as a kid. There was a car dealer in that area as well (Crow River Motors, I believe). I know they sold Pontiac because I remember drooling over a 1980 or 1981 Trans Am on the showroom at one time.

Back to page topACCORDING MY CO-WORKER (who worked there as a teen) THE PLACE WAS CALLED MR. BUSTERS. IT HAD APTS UPSTAIRS AND THE CAR DEALER WAS SCHWANKE MOTORS. THE OWNER OF MR. BUSTERS WAS CLARENCE KURTH.
Ok Busters. I remember going...
Back to page topOk Busters. I remember going there for a chocolate shake and they had the pinball machine. That was a fun place to go to as a kid. Now that you guys mention pontiac. That could be right. I remember going through the lot there and looking at all the new cars. Back then, they looked pretty aerodynamic.
It would be neat to see a picture of Busters when magazine comes out.
I remember there was a older guy that was a regular in Busters. He must of went there daily for a cup of coffee. One day he asked me for a quarter. I reached in my pocket and gave him the quarter. Then he said watch closely and he put the quarter in his hand. Closed his fingers and gave the quarter a shake and then slapped his hand against the table. Then he said looked at my hand. I was like ya there is nothing there. Then he took his finger and started pushing a quarter under his skin. I was like holy cows how did you get the quarter under your skin? Well later on after he got done showing me his trick. He gave me my quarter back. But yet today. I wonder how he did that. Because you could see the quarter under his skin.
