Forum: Why does McLeod County tend to vote conservatively?
November 22, 2006 - 11:45am — Jorge Sosa
I just took a call from one of our loyal readers. She is very politically active, and wanted more information about the Nov. 7 election results. She raised an excellent question: Why does McLeod County tend to vote conservatively? I'd love to hear what you think. (Jorge Sosa is a staff writer for the Hutchinson Leader. McLeod County voters, along...
Back to page topMcLeod County voters, along with voters in many western Minnesota counties, tend to vote Republican. However, "tend" is the operative word. For example, many people voting Republican in western Minnesota counties also vote for Democrat U.S. Congressman Collin Peterson. Conversely, the Iron Range and residents of Minneapolis and St. Paul tend to vote Democrat.
There are people involved in county political parties that could probably share more research.
