Colors for Decorating
How does one choose which colors to paint a room? After searching through the newest home decorating magazines I found out that gray is making a comeback.
The next time you are looking for some change consider gray:
Classic Gray
Gray is the ultimate neutral. It looks good with almost any color and ranges from cool to warm. In this bedroom a classic gray coats the walls. A black four-poster and cream-color shag rug complement the cool wall color. Burnt orange accents, table lamps, and throw pop in this neutral room. A mirrored nightstand and metal-framed mirror above the bed add a touch of glamor.
Dark Hue
Dark gray-brown gives this formal dining room a dramatic flair. The dark walls are offset by a white ceiling and crown molding. Gray draperies match the wall color, but the slight sheen adds a touch of glamour. Chairs upholstered in same gray hue create a luxurious setting. Wood accents, such as the chandelier, mirror, and chair frames, bring out the brown undertone in the wall color and connect all the room's elements.
Modern Style
The gray-blue hue also works well in contemporary settings. In this bedroom, white moldings and bedding and dark-stained wood floors are neutral complements to the gray-blue walls. The light gray headboard with it square lines draws from the wall color. At the foot of the bed, a plush settee upholstered in dark gray brings an elegant touch to the otherwise minimal decor.
Rustic Charm
A gray palette works well in a room with a rustic country motif. In this dining room, the weathered gray hutch stands out against light gray walls. The bamboo dining chairs and weathered table help to soften the gray color and give the room a relaxed feel.
