The Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce calls Hutchinson “Minnesota’s Hometown.” Mary Christensen was “born and raised” in Hutchinson and believes that gives her a perspective of the community that would serve her well if she is elected to the City Council.
“This is my hometown. That is what I’m going to run on. It is my city. I want what is best for it,” she said. “Hutchinson is such a special city because it is such a progressive city. We are always looking at what we can do to make it better. My main objective is to make Hutchinson the No. 1 hometown in Minnesota with a heart.”
Christensen, who retired after 34 years at 3M, is now a certified home stager and redesigner with Hometown Realty. It is a skill she honed in her family’s many moves around the city over the years. It is also a position that gives her the flexibility to handle the extensive time commitment serving on the council would require, she said.
“The best ability is availability,” said the candidate for Seat 3, which is now occupied by Kay Peterson, who is not seeking re-election.
